Invitation
Much
has been said about the emergence of the East as a core tourism
market for South Africa especially since the signing of trade agreements
with China at the close of 2002. More recently we have seen a waning
of demand from most European markets and sporadic response from
emergent markets and for a number of years now we have been wondering
when South African Tourism will appoint someone who has a background
in the industry to take charge of driving business in each of the
core markets.
The
appointment of Bradley Brouwer (ex Forever Resorts)
as country manager for the East (based in Japan) was the kind of
incumbent we were asking for and we have see a marked increase in
interest and demand from that part of the world since his appointment,
not to mention a number of very happy operators who have made use
of his efficient support in that region.
Bradley
has spent his entire career in the hospitality and tourism industries
and served on many industry association bodies and Boards including
SATSA and the Mpumalanga Tourism Board. Before joining SAT in 2006
he was Marketing, Sales and PR Director of Forever Resorts for five
years and as such attended many local and overseas marketing exhibitions
and workshops and made many friends and contacts all around the
world.
Bradley
has kindly agreed to share with us his immense knowledge of the
industry and particularly some worthwhile insights into the rapidly
emerging Eastern markets over lunch.
